Tasting Like Nothingness and Amanda Shires

Sometimes when I take a sip of red wine it tastes like nothingness.  Well, that's not it exactly...it's as though it tastes so right that it tastes like me...like the taste is so perfect  that I almost don't sense it.  And sometimes songs are like that...sometimes I'll hear a song and it sounds familiar---not that it sounds like anything else but it just sounds so right that you can lean right back into.  It feels like you.  Does that make any sense?

That was how Justin Towns Earle's song Harlem River Blues sounded to me the first time I heard it....as though I MUST have heard it many times before because...it felt so right.  So I was happy to see him win at the AMA's this last week.

And that's what this version of Leonard Cohen's I'm Your Man by Amanda Shires felt like.  It felt so right that it felt like nothingness or lightness....the way gold leaves in the fall make me feel.

Can you tell I'm just a LITTLE bit excited about having her and Rod Picott at our house on Friday, November 18?

It's because I know that it will feel just right.
