Sandwich Life House Concerts

People often ask how we ended up hosting house concerts.  I always explain that Ernie and I never planned to start hosting house concerts----it just kind of happened.....

In spring of 2008 we saw our beloved Kane Welch Kaplin at Fitzgerald's and we thought about how much we loved them and how much they helped our spirit.  That year was a somewhat hard one for us.....Ernie's cancer returned, my father had died not long ago, my mother's health was deteriorating, and my beloved sister Judi was battling bile duct cancer.  The boys were young and struggling to deal with what was going on in our lives as well as the challenges of growing up.  It was our 20th anniversary and as we talked about the need to live in the present, and enjoy the joys of life NOW....we came up with the crazy idea to see if Kane Welch Kaplin would play for our anniversary party.

Lovely men that they are, they agreed and it was a wonderful night.  We figured that was it...we'd never do it again....  However, we hadn't figured on getting hooked on sharing music with our friends, in our living room.  We soon realized we couldn't keep doing it unless everyone shared in the cost with us....so....Sandwich Life House Concerts were born.

So here we are today.  One of the most wonderful gifts we've found through this is the new friends we have made and the friendships we see happening among others that attend.  If you haven't joined us for a concert yet, I hope you do soon.

Here's a quick round up of videos from the shows.  The only one I'm missing is Peter Case.  Anybody have one?

There's so much good music out there---it's more a matter of fitting it in, rather than finding it....but I'm always curious to hear what others would like to hear!

Kane Welch Kaplin (September 2008):

Amy Rigby (July 2009):

David Olney and Sergio Webb (February 2010 and August 2011)

Unfortunately, I don't have any Peter Case videos from his concert.

Sniff.  Sniff.

He was wonderful.  I remember feeling like an adoring cat....just wanting to rub my head against him.  Does that sound weird?  Oh, and Owen ADORED him.  To this day, if he gets nervous he'll say, "I don't know why I'm nervous, I mean I know Peter Case."   I'll post a picture since I don't have a video....
