Morning Ramble and Getting Excited about Rod Picott and Amanda Shires
Last night I was so tired that Ernie hesitantly said, "you know....when you get this tired I can never tell if you're mad or not...." The poor man. I wasn't mad....I just get a bit....uh, terse when I'm really wiped out. I'm feeling another step better today though. I made the meat sauce for the moussaka last night and it was delicious. I splurged and made it with all lamb because the lamb was only $4 more a pound than the ground beef. Do you see why I'm always broke? Anway....lamb, ginger, cinnamon, allspice, cayenne, red bell peppers and sweet onion and tomatoes.....even though Leo thought it smelled disgusting I thought it smelled incredibly enticing.
Owen continues with his campaign to get the video game that we vetoed. As he explained to me indignantly, "I should be able to get this game Mom, I mean...I watch The Good Wife on tv." Uh...yeah Owen. Has anyone played Assasin's Creed? I mean, I get why he wants it....look at the imagery...can't you see Owen wanting to be THAT guy for Halloween next year?
He asked Ernie if he was really good and didn't complain about things or lose his temper, could he get the game. Ernie explained that his behavior was not the reason he wasn't getting the game. This morning Owen asked Ernie if he thought it would be a waste of time to try to be really good. Ernie said knock yourself out. And he just keeps saying, "but I watch The GOOD Wife." Further discussion went nowhere. Good Lord but I love him.
Tonight....I make the briam (sort of a Greek ratatouille), do something with the shitload of beautiful green beans I got from Greg last Saturday and maybe make the bechemal ahead of time. Do you think that will work? Oh and maybe make the radish dip Heather suggested. The radishes are so beautiful that I hate to chop them up though....I know that is somewhat flawed, but there you go....
Tomorrow I work until noon, then some frenzied cleaning and cooking...and then great music!!!
Oh, and I can't believe how many O words I didn't come up with for Leo and his acrostic describing himself....
