Random Notes from a Sandwich Life Weekend
1. I could just weep. Jason and the Scorchers are playing at the Castle Theater in January....on the night we arrive in Birmingham, Alabama for Brickfair, a Lego convention. Damn. Can you freaking believe this? I am going to a LEGO CONVENTION instead of JASON AND THE FREAKING SCORCHERS.
2. I must make Leo take a shower and wash his hair today. It's starting to look like Johnny Thunders' did when he was in the New York Dolls. I kid you not. What that boy could do with his hair if he so wished....
3. Owen is so wound up today that he's making me insane. I must get him a hamster wheel....or sedation....or SOMETHING....otherwise I will lose my mind.
4. We have too much Christmas crap. I admit it. Ernie wants to kill me because I just keep making him dig more boxes out of the basement because I STILL can't find my grade school Christmas ornament. The one with the blue and gold glitter. The one that another kid made fun of because I didn't use red and green glitter. Sniff.
5. I duct-taped some of our living room furniture yesterday. Seriously. Hattie, with occasional assistance from Bob, has shredded the arm of one of the chairs so badly that it was spitting all over the place. We've tried all sorts of things to keep her from doing it with zero success. I've never had problems with cats scratching furniture terribly before. I've had de-clawed cats and I liked it but I can't bring myself to do it myself (those cats came that way). So it's come to duct tape. There are SO many unexpected things in life, aren't there? Like duct taping your furniture and not letting it stop you from inviting a million people to your house. I can't decide whether this says something good about me or something vaguely bad about me.... Oh well!
6. I bought the most gorgeous baby carrots from the farmers' market yesterday. I pickled them yesterday along with a batch of gold beets and red beets and will serve them at the party. I thought something pickly might be nice with the richness of the cassoulet.
