Random Notes from the Sandwich Life
1. The Clash is on my list of bands I really wish I had seen live. Stupefaction posted this video of the Clash and it's amazing! You can read more about it over at The Clash Blog. Very cool and a good way to start the morning if I do say so myself. The show is the same night that Paul Simonon smashed his bass guitar----leading to the shot on the cover of London Calling.
Wow.
2. The other day Owen asked me why people panted when they were kissing. He wondered if it was just that they couldn't breathe because their mouths were on each other. I told him that was part of it but that kissing could make you excited and uh....then I may have trailed off.... He looked at me and said, "Dad makes it sound like you guys just go upstairs and do it. I mean, how do you warm up?" And as he said this he used his fingers to mime us trotting up the stairs. I just stared at him and finally said, "well you kiss and touch each other to warm up." He said, "o.k." and changed the subject. Good God. I truly may not survive him but I do think he's fabulous.
3. I wasn't feeling very Christmasy at all at first but now it's kicked in. The trees are up. The mistletoe has been installed. We've watched the Charlie Brown Christmas. We're playing Christmas music and Owen is trying to go to bed very early every night----he's hoping to sleep December away so Christmas comes faster. Me? I want it to last as long as possible....
Here's my sister Debbie's grade school ornament (I know I have to send it to you Debbie---it was with Mom and Dad's stuff). Judi must have had the same teacher.
4. It looks like our bathroom will be under construction soon. Yay!! Not that we can afford it but we're doing it anyway. It will make things a bit tougher at the Christmas party but what the hell....we once had a couch delivered in the middle of a Christmas party so this should be fine....
5. I had some of my kale pesto left so last night I mixed it with some mashed sweet potatoes. Mm-mmmmm.
6. I think that's all I got.
7. Oh wait.....I have two questions:
1. Leo has outgrown his bike---where to go for a new one?
2. I have to choose a paint color for my bathroom. We're going with a traditional look for the period of our white subway tile/white octagonal floor tile. So with all that white any color will do....it's off my orange dining room and near the kitchen which has a light gray-green color. Thoughts??
