The Season Has Begun

Owen suggested pizza for last night and who was I to argue?  After a financial crisis leading to a brief clash between various members of the family we ordered the pizza and started setting the trees up on the mantel.  We listened to the Vince Guarldi Trio celebrate Christmas and the the boys were so happy.  Well, me too.  Leo is my Christmas boy remember and it's a beautiful thing.  Just as we got the lights into the little Ikea tree the pizza arrived.  Their was a moment where Owen was crushed that I hadn't remembered to order the pizza in slices, not squares, but he was hungry enough to get over it.  Leo wouldn't deign to join us for pizza and went back to happily Minecrafting (he's been upgraded to a Trusted Builder on his server of choice so there was great joy in the air).  My sister Debbie called Owen to talk (as requested...he evidently couldn't talk her ear off long enough the night before so he asked her to call back last night which she obediently did) and he talked and he talked and he talked....and he TALKED.  At one point I yelled, "don't forget to ask Aunt Debbie how SHE is" which he quickly did before moving back to his topic of choice (him).  Good thing she adores him.

This morning I woke to a crash and one of the trees was broken but I consoled Owen (he LOVES to deliver bad news so he'd raced upstairs to tell me).  He refused to cheer up until I reminded him that it was December 1...the first day of the Advent calendars (being the family of excess we have three).  He practically levitated all the way downstairs screeching, "LEO, LEO...THE ADVENT CALENDARS!"

I guess the season has begun.
