Never Watch a Tornado Show Before You Go To Sleep and Other Random Notes

1.  Leo LOVES a good tornado show and it's one of the few things that he'll watch on tv with us.  There's nothing better than having him curl up next to me on the couch.....so I watched some tornado shows before bed the other night.  Of course I ended up having WEIRD tornado dreams.  It was Ernie, my sister Debbie and me driving in a car, looking for some out of the way spot (which was probably my fault) but then we were running late (which was probably Debbie's fault) and suddenly the road we were driving on was jammed with cars all stopped because there was a tornado coming.  We got out of our car and hid in a used car building with a lot of other people and then tornado after tornado hit us.  We were o.k. (although something hurt my back) and started wandering in between trains and I was frantic to reach my mother.  I finally got her on the phone and she was crying and then another tornado came....  Anyway....never watch tornado shows before bed....I woke up feeled scared and panic-stricken.

2.  Of course I've been having some VERY odd dreams of late.  There was the one where Gwyneth Paltrow, myself and somebody else were all in charge of deciding on what clothes this teenage ward of Gwyneth's could wear.  Gwyneth wanted her to wear very conservative clothes, she kept saying, "white shirt, dark pants and a belt" but the girl wanted to dress more like me----because of course I wasn't really me.  I was this creature named Bomby who wore really tight black clothes and had been influential in early punk stuff....and Steve Scariano and Nick Rudd were in the dream too.  I swear to God I have no idea....

3.  After listening to Mendocino last night now I'm entering one of my Doug Sahm phases.  The Texas Tornados are on the bands, like the Clash, that I really regret not seeing live.  There's something about Doug Sahm's voice that just REELS me the fuck in....and of course then there's Flaco....  Upon careful analysis I have found that you can play this song, depending on traffic, approximately 7-8 times in a row on the drive from my house to my work.

4.  I'm like a little kid the night before Christmas when there's snow in the forecast.  Everytime I wake up in the night (which is relatively often) I peek outside in excitement.  Of course nobody in my house shares my delight.  Leo finally agreed that he would be pleased for my sake.  I said to Owen, "what's wrong with you guys, aren't you CHILDREN?" and he looked at me calmly and said, No, we are not.  We are tweens."

Hmph.

5.  This was on the ground next to my car the other day.
