A Measly Three Random Notes

Bleh.  I hate colds.  Bad night last night and no meetings today when I checked my work schedule so I stayed home.  I knew I wouldn't be productive at work so I slept a little but I'm too stuffed up/bleary/achy to read or watch tv or do anything.  I guess the timing is good though....we should all be healthy by this Friday's house concert.

So a few random notes....

1.  Could anything be more marvelous than these hanging tulips in Fleurish's window downtown?

2.  And in other news of spring....look at what's in my front yard....

I love how that picture almost looks balck and white except for the crocuses!
3.  And I think that's all I have for you.  Oh....except for the fact that I still love my Le Creuset pot!  The other night I didn't feel like cooking but didn't want to order so we dug a package of chicken breasts (on the bone because they're better that way) out of the freezer.  I defrosted them and threw them in my pot skin side down and let them brown while I wandered around the kitchen, poking in the pantry and the refrigerator.  I turned them over and still hadn't decided what to do so I grabbed the can of guava nectar that was sitting on the counter.  Ernie had come home with that instead of agave nectar.  He'd gone back and found the agave nectar but now I was stuck with a couple of cans of guava nectar.  So I poured one
can of it over the chicken, closed it up and let it braise for about 40 minutes.  I took the chicken out and cooked the juices and nectar down a bit until it was almost syrupy.  Then I tossed in some wonderful, almost bitter broccoli and tossed it til it was cooked.  Marvelous....the chicken was moist with a bit of sweetness from the guava and the pan juices were rich and sweet and offset the bitterness of the broccoli.  What a wonderful shopping mistake that was!
And with that burst of enthusiasm I am done.  I'm going back to bed for awhile.....
