Geesh
Well, Jesus H. Christ, as my father used to say (sorry Debbie) the whole freaking family is sick. Remember how I felt lousy on Sunday and tried to convince myself I was becoming lactose intolerant? Because for some God only knows reason I find that better than just picking up some bug? It's the same thing when I get a cold and try to tell everyone it's allergies. As though if it's allergies or lactose intolerance it's not my fault...but if I've caught something it IS my fault. Totally nonsensical. Sometimes I wonder what else I am twisting up in my worldview.
Oh well.
I had a lousy, lousy headache through this whole thing and late yesterday afternoon I called home to ask Ernie if he could pick me up a tiny bit early because I didn't have any ibuprofen and the tylenol in my purse was proving less than effective. Of course by the time Owen answered the phone I had remembered that I had the car and could leave of my own free will. Owen was quick to inform me (Owen loves to give bad news...well, any kind of news actually) that Daddy was sick and had lain on the couch all day. Damn. I HATE Ernie being sick. He's the rock the whole family leans on and when he's sick it throws the household into chaos. Sick he was though. When I got home (after a phone argument with Owen over the fact that I said I was NOT going to the store to buy skim milk for his macaroni when we had perfectly good whole milk at home) Ernie was pathetically nauseous, feverish, achy and headachy. I ate some baked pita chips for dinner which was the only thing that sounded good to me. Leo got his own dinner (don't ask) and I made Owen a couple of leftover tacos. Ernie and I curled up watched a little tv and I poured him (and me) into bed around 8:00.
It's a strange thing going to bed before your children and saying, "you'll turn off all the lights?" to Leo and having him answer, "Of course Mom. I love you." It's like he's a person.
Weird.
Today Ernie feels better and of course the two boys are down.
Geesh.
HowEVER! Can we talk about the Frozen Fog yesterday? I even capitalized it just because it was so incredible. My pictures were rushed and not so great but ohhhh..... I wish it hadn't been a work day. I drove by Meadowbrook Park in the morning and it was stunning....what a day to go for a walk there....
