Random Notes from a Recovering Sandwich Life
1. I am feeling MUCH better today. Whew. Yesterday I felt like I was pushing through a bowl of oatmeal all day...finally gave in and went home from work early. Today? Still stuffed up, probably not 100% but MUCH better. Thank you body!
2. Not too many tickets left for the Bottle Rockets show on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at our house. Don't worry about it being a Thursday night---the show only goes to roughly 9:30ish p.m. I can't quite believe this is happening! Get your tickets quickly before they're totally sold out!
And can I say? I can't quite explain it....but "I'm stuck in Indianapolis with a fuel pump that's deceased" is one of my favorite lyrics of all time.
3. Owen and Ernie grilled bratwurst for dinner last night while I curled up on the couch and perused bad tv and cookbooks. When I kissed Owen goodnight I could still smell a bit of the smoke in his hair and it smelled like summer....
4. I am looking forward to Friday evening with Eric Brace and Peter Cooper like I can't even tell you! We've got some new people coming too---which is great fun. And of course we will make them do this song.... "I Know a Bird." Makes me cry but what the hell! Of course here they are with Jon Byrd as well....gotta get that guy to our house one of these days too.... If you're planning to come don't forget to PayPal the money.....top right corner of this page... and just email if you have any questions!
5. This is a dark picture but it shows you that our bathroom is coming along nicely. I kinda hate to have it done though because I will miss Todd so much. And yet....to have a washer and dryer again....mmmm...and a toilet on the first floor....it's like a dream.....
6. Meet the new mouse...NOT the same as the old mouse I'm delighted to say. (No offense old mouse, as Owen would say, I have history with you.)
7. Ever since Owen heard a bit of Adele on the Grammys he's been singing this kind of wordless falsetto version of Rolling in the Deep. It cracks me up....pops up at random times...while playing with Lego or video games and just walking around the house. I was asking him about it last night...of course he totally denied it....so I started playing the video on the laptop. He was in the middle of the living room messing with his sword and his shield and dancing around. Every time I looked up he was dead still and Ernie was laughing silently---so hard that his face was getting brilliant red. Finally I said, "WHAT is going on?" and Ernie told me that Owen was dramatically, albeit silently, singing along with the song---complete with hands waving in the air--- but every time I looked up he froze and just looked at me innocently. I walked into the kitchen and told Leo that his father and brother were crazy. He sighed deeply and said, "I know."
8. Owen told me that some nights after we turn the lights off Leo comes up to his bed and they sit on the top bunk together talking. I love the idea of that.
9. O.k....it's Wednesday. Tonight...more cleaning. Tomorrow night...cooking. Friday night....MUSIC!
