Random Notes from A Sandwich Life Weekend
1. Well, Will Kimbrough dumped me for Emmylou again. Damn. Completely 100% understandable of course.....and I have a feeling he is an incredibly nice guy so I can't really begrudge the fact that it just would have been nice is he'd said "gee, SORRY I can't make it." I mean I know he's NOT sorry....of COURSE not but come one just throw me a bone and say...."gee, sorry guys...maybe another time" even if that's not really the case. Of course I can't imagine the scheduling nightmare that it must be to arrange all his various commitments and I love that he's getting the recognition he should, playing with Emmylou, and blah, blah, blah. So anyway, cross off the June 1, 2012 house concert. Too bad also as it was just two days before Ernie's birthday.
2. I got all excited about a new recipe for my new Dutch Oven and made it last night and it was so-so and I felt sick all day today. Do you think I've become lactose-intolerant? Is this yet another sign of old age? By the way, our custodian at work asked me if I was planning to retire this year. Yes.....the second person to ask me this. I swear to God....I'm still in my 40's... Geesh. I'd love to retire but I'd just as soon not look as though it's imminent.
3. So bleh day today but yesterday was lovely. Ernie and I went over to pick up the Blue Moon produce in the morning, looked around the antique show then came home and fortunately my youngest son pissed me off royally. Why is this good you ask? Because rage really helps me with bossing people around so we whipped the Lego Room-to be in shape pretty well. The last table should be delivered tomorrow so then we can move ahead with the final placement of tables and Lego.... Owen had his guitar lesson and we all had lunch at Fries and Peanuts. Then when we got home Ernie and I (and eventually Owen too) curled up in the media room and watched Julie and Julia. Erne had seen it but Owen and I hadn't although I'd read the book. It was the perfect thing for a gray rainy Saturday.
4. Our tax refund came early thank you very much Turbo Tax so I just ordered our new iMac as the 'vintage' one is one its last legs. There is great joy in the land and plans for Minecraft servers are being made. It's a scary world out there people.
5. Leo had to pick a biography to read for school so the guys headed off to the library while I was resting my stomach this afternoon and he came back with the Steve Jobs book. 600 pages....and he seems excited about it. Man I love my baby.
6. That's my weekend in a nutshell. A little work tossed in this morning, fighting my computer to set up a VPN that's supposed to be oh so simple. A damn quick weekend I might note but not without its charms. Onward to Monday I suppose.....
7. Oh, and Owen was rather taken with a 12-string while he was waiting for his guitar lesson. He asked if he could get one if he saved up his money. Uh, sure Owen.
