Random Notes from the Sandwich Life

1.  The other night Owen asked what a vibrator was.  Yup.  For God's sake we were watching a DVR'd episode of The Chew, one of my guilty pleasures....they were asking audience members what they'd bring to a deserted island.  I did my best to explain.  Sigh.

2.  I just listened to Eric Brace and Peter Cooper on WSM and DAMN but they are funny.  So come to the March 2 house concert for the great music but know that while you're there you will be laughing as well.  And it's ONLY TWO WEEKS AWAY!  Time to start paying up people.  Paypal link on the top right corner of this page.  $20 ahead and $25 day of show.  Add another $2 or so if you want a copy of the famous Lego poster designed by the great Mark Gerking.

3.  My mother died two years ago today.  In some ways it seems longer, in some ways just yesterday.  I miss her so terribly.  I can't help but look back at the last year of her life and wish I'd done some things differently but I know that's hindsight....that I did the best I could.  I am wishing February to be over I must admit.  Next week is Judi's birthday, which is the day we had my mother's funeral.  Man I was so sick that day too.  I went home after the funeral and got into bed and read Tommy Womack's Cheese Chronicles straight through.

4.  I had to dig through some old paperwork the other day and came across the registry list for Judi's funeral.  Well, I loosely call it that....I completely forgot that people would expect to sign in so when somebody asked me about it I just grabbed a piece of paper and gave it to them.  The funeral is a bit of a blur to me and so I read that list as thought it was for the first time.  I was touched by the names I saw on it.  Thank you all.

5.  On a happier note, in going through that paperwork I found a card that my great-aunt had sent to my mother with this enclosed picture.  At first glance I thought it was my mother with Debbie and Judi.  When I turned it over and read the inscription on the back I realized that it was instead my grandmother, with my mother in ringlets, and holding my uncle, sitting next to her sister.  Even knowing that it looks like my mom and my sisters to me.
