Random Notes from the Sandwich Life
1. It has been a random seeming kind of week....between fog and warm temperatures...a database trying to kill me....and its February. Weird. February 2 in fact, which not only is Ground Hog Day of course, but my parents' anniversary. They would have been married 60 years today and good grief that makes me old. Weird again.
2. Our bathroom is coming along nicely but as much as I'm excited to have it done I realize that I will miss our contractor Todd. It's kind of a nice ritual to get home and chat a bit with him, watch our cat Hattie turn herself inside out with pleasure just because she's close to him....
3. Last night I was fried and frazzled when I got home. My friends Mark and Richard and Michael were all saying great things about the show at the Highdive lat night but I just could not get it together. Then about 8:00 I thought....maybe I should just put my damn bra back on and some shoes and we should go. Owen enthusiastically agreed telling us he really wanted us to go. He practically pushed us out the door, telling me, "you know Mom, we'll be fine and you had a harsh day and I really want this for you." Then he added, "and besides, if anything happens I have my sword." Uh. O.k. Owen.
4. The show was Pieta Brown, Carrie Rodriguez and Kelly Joe Phelps. It didn't blow me away although they were really good. Loved Carrie Rodriguez a lot and I think another time, another place it might have worked better for me but just the same we really enjoyed it. I was a tad preoccupied with work, writing notes on the napkin until I told myself "STOP IT." I love hanging out with my husband though and when we got home Leo was asleep in his bed and Owen was of course asleep smack dab in the middle of our bed with his monkeys and his copy of Stephen Ambrose's book on D-Day.
5. I love foggy nights.
6. It's Thursday and I've got a busy day ahead of me.....mostly I just want to live the life of Bob today.
7. Here's a new song Carrie Rodriguez did that I liked---also loved Seven Angels on a Bicycle. She was really the highlight for me last night....
