Monday Update
Ernie pulled me out of my funk this weekend. I woke up Sunday still feeling blue but he bugged me into going out to Lisa Kesler's studio as part of the Boneyard Arts Festival. I had made a short list of a few places I absolutely wanted to get to as part of the Boneyard but life put a wrench into it so I missed the Friday and Saturday events. Her studio was my Sunday list entry however. I agreed that he was right and we should get out of the house so off we went. As I read the directions to her place Ernie and I just looked at each other and said simultaneously, "is that our BARN?" And sure enough, her beautiful red barn is the one that made us turn around in the snow and get stuck in the ditch a couple of years ago. I was delighted to tell her! Her work is lovely and her studio space was so appealing....part of me was jealous even though I don't have that similar urge to create.... Anyway, it was lovely talking to her and turned the weekend around for me. Thanks Lisa!
Afterward we trundled off to Prairie Gardens. Somehow in my head I had convinced myself that it would only cost about $30 to buy the plants I needed for my window box. Denial, thy name is Cynthia. Oh well. Then I realized we had a frost warning so couldn't plant anyway. I hope the colors work out...the front windows don't quite get enough sun and yet are too sunny for shade plants.... the eternal dilemma I guess....
Later in the afternoon Owen and I made marinara sauce to use on homemade pizzas that night. I warn you about cooking with Owen. I ended up with garlic in the glass I was drinking out of and tomato sauce all over the place. It was delicious though and he told me we should cook together more often and I couldn't argue. Our pizzas were delicious....plain cheese for Owen and a little sausage on ours. We'll have to do this more often. I used the Mark Bittman recipe from the NYT....any other suggestions/advice for homemade pizza dough?
Now...onward....I can't believe that this Friday is the Audrey Auld house concert. Time is an awfully slippery creature. Don't forget---please pay ahead---this is going to be a marvelous evening!! Just email if you have any questions...
