CynthiaFest, Phil Lee and Barbecue Sauce

We went to bed early last night. It's not as though we're ever up late with the house concerts but I think the anticipation and the pleasure of them always leave us a bit wrung out the next day. It was hot yesterday but not hot enough for a/c but damn our bedrooms were warm last night.....couldn't sleep despite being so tired. I'm thinking there may be a nap in my future....now that I've become a connoisseur of naps....

Back to real life today. Leo has a school project he needs to finish. They are hoping against hope they can go swimming at our friends' house and I need to make them both take showers and wash their hair. How long will Leo go with long hair as it gets hot? He refuses to tie it back so we shall see....he also tends to get as red faced and miserable with heat as I do. Ernie says we both get desperate, deer in the headlight looks when we start to get warm. I love my boy.

Ernie's going to make pulled pork on the grill today. It's a test run for CynthiaFest. I'm thinking just a huge batch of pulled pork and a couple of different sauces......whaddya think?

And who else but the inimitable Phil Lee could play CynthiaFest....huh?

And by the way, I want LOTS of people at CynthiaFest....I want to make it wonderful for Phil Lee because that will make it wonderful for us.

Love this video of my sweet boy......

Oh, and any recommendations for interesting sauces for our pulled pork? My favorite is generally a classic North Carolina vinegar sauce but it might be nice to experiement with a few others.....thoughts, recipes, ideas?
