A Midnight in America Dinner

Owen made an early Valentine's Day dinner for Ernie and me Wednesday night. I gotta say. NOBODY grills chicken the way Owen does. It was a special theme menu called A Midnight in America: Inspired by Midnight In Paris. He and Ernie just recently watched that movie---they both LOVE Woody Allen.  Perhaps there are a lot of 11 year olds that love Woody Allen but uh I don't know......I just love that boy.

He started the grill and did a mix of asparagus and black beans instead of his classic Swiss chard and chickpeas. Then he asked us to wait on the porch. It got a little chilly out there so Ernie finally stuck his head in and asked if we could come in. Owen said he was almost ready. A moment later he swung the door open and invited us in. He had set up a little stand by the front door with paper on it and asked if we had a reservation. I apologized and said we didn't and he looked up in surprise and said, "well, it has your names right here." I told him I was very relieved and he escorted us to the table which been set with candles. He gave us the menu and we went with the special which was "Mama's Boy Style Chicken with Black Beans and Asparagus." It was listed as $12.00 but fortunately it was free the hour we were there. There was also a pork chop special but there was a note on the menu that said it was unavailable. Oh well. The desserts menu listed Le Famous Mama style milkshake or vanilla ice cream and rocky road ice cream. Toppings include sprinkled or melted dark chocolate or something Leo's brownies. I went with a little vanilla ice cream with melted dark chocolate and he gave us mini milkshakes.

It was divine.

Just absolutely divine.
