Fish Sticks....and the DeLuxe.....

I was talking with a friend recently about my post of 1970s meals and she reminded me of one....FISH STICKS! Oh, I loved fishsticks. I don't remember what my mother served with them. And yes, they were the crummy frozen ones but I loved them....give me something crunchy with some salt on it.....yeahhh. I also loved to order fish sticks from the Golden Bear in Downers Grove when we went for lunch on Saturdays. This was after the grocery shopping and fabric store trip with my mother. The coating was solid and very crispy....I can imagine it right now.... I want a FISH STICK!

Perhaps that's what led to my love of the DeLuxe fish sandwich. Ahhh DeLuxe. I lived a few doors down from them when I was a sophomore in college. Bean soup was $1 and beer about the same. I liked sitting in the window booth so I could watch the street....but then again I liked the funny little half booth that was by the bathroom.

I may have to buy fish sticks...or perhaps recreate the sandwich.
