Special. So Special.

That is the word that I kept hearing in my mind last night as I listened and watched. Special. A really magical house concert.

Jon Byrd. I'd never seen him live before. Those songs...that voice..... Ahhhh.  I adore his albums but live he was more beautiful than I could have imagined. My friend Karen who was sitting next to me just looked at me after he finished----she was holding her hand over her heart, and just looked at me in wonder. And the man standing behind me, who was new to our house concerts and although I can't recall his name was lovely, said, "oh when you get lost in the song as you're hearing it....wow." And I just laughed because I was so happy.  That Jon Byrd. Smart, talented shy boys.....love 'em, love 'em....

And then Amelia White....again, whom I had never seen live. A gorgeous voice, wonderful songs and such a presence. And I liked her so damn much too! AND Jan King....who sounded WONDERFUL with Amelia...oh, and Tami Peden too. It was astounding.

Geez.

I walked into the kitchen at one point and our friend Greg was standing there (oh yes, and can we thank Greg and Vicky for putting people up again!!!). He smiled and told me he loved seeing the light in our eyes on nights like this. I managed to pour red wine into my glass of white wine but I laughed and dumped it out. I poured some fresh white wine in and thought about what he said for a moment. Then I said, "Yes.....it feeds us." He smiled and nodded and said he could tell.

It really does feed us. The music combined with the camaraderie and kindness of everyone...it truly does feed our hearts and souls. So thank you for all of you that make it possible....the musicians....and lord I had tears in my eyes at one point marveling at the caliber of talent in my living room.....and the friends, new and old, that come and share in the music, the food and the magic.

It wasn't just musical talent either....the wonderful Deone Jahnke was there too....I was delighted to meet her as her work is phenomenal AND she took pictures throughout the night...I can not WAIT to see some of them. There was one point in which Amelia was singing and Jon was standing a bit to the side watching her with a smile on his face. I saw Deone take a picture, look at the display on the back of her camera and smile and nod happily. I can't wait to see that picture!

Food was great....wonderful guacamole, can we say filet mignon jerky? and homemade marshmallows? Thank you all. Thank you once again to Team Tamale!

One of my favorite parts of the night was afterward when Owen chatted away with Jan King and Tami Peden. He even showed Tami the Lego room despite the second floor being off limits. That was o.k. with me as Tami was absolutely lovely. And of course...for them being so kind to Owen I will ALWAYS love them.

I took a whopping three pictures during Jon's set and couldn't reach my camera during the second set so am looking forward to seeing any pictures or video that other's took. Please feel free...if so inclined...to post them to the Sandwich Life house concert facebook page.

And Happy Easter to all. Ours is low-key but happy....
