Yeah!
There are still a couple of weeks until our next house concert and I am about to go into withdrawal! Please remind me not to go three months without a house concert ever again....especially during the most depressing part of the year. Geesh. We have been busy planning though....assembling Team Tamale for the Amelia White and Jon Byrd show on March 30....and thinking and emailing and such about other shows.
One of the most horrible things that has ever happened to me (well, o.k....apart from people dying, cancer, hurt children and stuff like that) occured the other day.
I turned down a Peter Case show.
Sniff.
I know. I ADORE Peter Case. I want to rub my head on his ankles like a cat and that is something that rarely occurs. Last time it happened it was Kevin Gordon. Peter's booking person contacted us about a show the DAY after Hardly Strictly Ernie (Jason Ringenberg). It just about killed me but even when they nudged it a bit later it was too close. Sigh. I told them we would LOVE to have him some other time and hopefully that will come true. And this time I WILL find our copy of the Nerves 45 for him to sign.
However, there is good news as well. We just booked a house concert for Thursday, July 18, 2013. Yes, yes, I know it's a Thursday but school is out so there's no homework or kids to put to bed so I think we can all handle it. Edward Burch was kind enough to mention our house concerts to Sherry Rich. I must admit I wasn't familiar with her but after reading and listening I am REALLY looking forward to this!
She recorded an album with Jay Bennett beginning in 1999. She is putting it out now and from what I've heard it sounds great. The list of people on it, as well as her co-writers is fantastic. She will be touring with her husband Rick Plant, who is himself pretty impressive. And looking back at other work she has done is pretty intriguing. God I love discovering something like this that is new to me!
