Death, Money, and Music
Thanks for the kind, kind words about my friend Michael. He was indeed a special man. I feel a bit unmoored and am thinking of his family all the time.
We spent the rest of our day yesterday sweating up a storm, both literally and figuratively, after finding that our A/C was shot and need to be replaced. Given the age of it and the furnace we replaced both.
Yes, I know.
My stomach is still in knots. We signed our life away though and we should have A/C by Thursday night.
Thursday night...our SHERRY RICH HOUSE CONCERT! I warn you the yard is a weedy disaster and the house not much better but we shall celebrate regardless. I know it's hard for people to do potluck on a weeknight so I will make several salads, Sue will sell skewers of chicken satay, shrimp satay and veggie skewers. Anyone that wants to bring anything is welcome.....a big old watermelon or chips or dessert or whatever is easy! BYOB as well, although I'll have lemonade and iced tea. Please pay via PayPal (link is top right of this page). You can also drop $ off at our house. Day of show is $25 cash only. Thanks...let us know if you have any questions.
Here's a blurb about Sherry Rich that I stole from Euclid Records' site:
Rich is the daughter of Australian country-folk singer Noelene Rich, andshe played bass in a high school band with Keith Urban. None of that isas important as her stint in Girl Monstar, a vital part of theAustralian independent pub rock scene of the late 1980s and early 1980s,nor as her mature work recording as a solo artist.
And don't forget that we get Ed Burch doing an opening set with Todd Fletcher! He will be doing some songs with Sherry as well.
This show is exactly what I need....and I bet it's exactly what a lot of other people need!! This will be fabulous. We'll listen to the music, hopefully enjoy the cool of the A/C and drink a toast to Michael!
