Words from Owen, Pasta, and Tom Mason

Owen has evidently been watching episodes of the Walking Dead online and Sunday night was the season premiere on tv. He asked us if we would watch it with him so we (rather reluctantly on my part) agreed.

Good GOD.

I looked at him in horror a few times and he said matter of factly, "Mom, I know you always say you'd rather have me see a sex scene than a lot of violence....but this is way cooler."

Last night Owen had some dental treatment that left him unable to eat anything crunchy so we nixed the homemade pizza planned for dinner and threw together some pasta. I gave him his favorite Paul Newman sauce but for Ernie and me I poked around the refrigerator. We had some nice Triple S bacon and some greens and that's where I started....but I ended up with just beautiful little orange and purple cherry tomatoes from Farmer Greg, green olives, parmesan and toasted garlic/parsley breadcrumbs. I looked at the bacon and greens and decided we just didn't need them. I suppose I could have added some chickpeas and greens to make it a bit healthier but MAN it was delicious.

I heated some olive oil, tossed in the olives, got them warm and threw a couple of handfuls of cherry tomatoes and cooked them until I could smash them a bit. I added the pasta to the pan and let it meld for a bit. I added parmesan and then tossed it with the toasted breadcrumbs with garlic and parsley. It makes me remember that sometimes I add too many things....this was perfect....the only additional seasoning was salt and pepper.

Don't forget Tom Mason this Friday night. This, I can guarantee, will be a very, very good time....
