I Give You: RB MORRIS & SOUP CON!
I haven't spent so much time at various doctor's offices, the Cancer Center, and the hospital in ages. Between appointments for Ernie, various stuff for me, Convenient Care, sick boys, it's all feeling quite familiar. Driving through the hospital parking garage yesterday morning felt eerily familiar. As always we park on the top. It seems like some kind of minor victory to burst out into the open sky after circling, circling, circling....
The hospital is quiet on a Sunday morning. The television in the MRI waiting room was loud and up too high to reach to turn down. I begrudgingly listened to a whole slew of CBS morning shows that kind of seemed like faux-HGTV. Between that and an upset stomach from the stupid antibiotics I've been taking and general bleariness it all became a tad surreal. Ernie finally finished and we padded out feeling like members of some kind of secret Saturday morning hospital club.
Later we headed over to Fries and Peanuts to meet Sue and Kent for a drink and to discuss plans for food for the RB Morris house concert on Saturday, February 1. I present to you: SOUP CON!
My beloved Sue Davis will be preparing 3 soups for your pleasure.
Caldo Verde-a Portuguese soup of potato and kale with a topping of sausage (with a vegetarian option)
Corn Chowder-topped with ham (with a vegetarian option)
Curried Squash
You will be able to purchase a flight of soups for $3 or a larger single cup for $2. This money will go toward recovering Sue's costs. All the money that comes to Sandwich Life House Concerts will go straight to RB Morris though. If you have not had Sue's cooking.....trust me.....TRUST me....these will be amazing.
BYOB as always (we'll have lemonade and tea or something like that), and if you'd still like to bring something please bring an appetizer or dessert or whatever strikes your fancy. This is going to be a perfect way to break up the stretch of January and February. Same times as always----6:00 potluck, music to follow.
We had a ridiculously good time sitting at Fries & Peanuts talking to Sue and Kent, laughing too loudly and watching it snow outside.
Came home and read, watched the fire in the fireplace, watched the last episode of Orange is the New Black, cooked some mediocre food, worried about Leo getting sick, told Owen tales of his toddlerhood, went back downstairs to tell Ernie to go to bed and argue with him that NO, he was NOT listening to music, he was sound asleep. I love his fervant denials. My sweet peas.
Here's Scott Miller and RB doing a Prine song....
