Kevin Gordon Brings Good Luck for the New Year
So the question has been answered. CAN one host a house concert when one has a sinus infection and bronchitis? Well, evidently one can. Can one be a gracious hostess throughout? Well, not so much and I apologize to all those I coughed upon or didn't talk to. Despite that however that Kevin Gordon is a keeper. Lord I love him. Such beautiful guitar from that man and then...well then those songs. He was glorious...and charming and I love him. And he must have brought us good luck for 2014 because I feel better than I did in the last days of 2013.
Thank you to all that came----outstanding spread of food folks---thank you! And I must say I think my hoppin john was a success. I thought I'd made enough for about 80 people but almost all of it went and Kevin kindly praised it so I was happy. Thanks to Mike and Julie for coming for the first time (and for the gorgeous orchid) and to Jen and Chris for making it down from Chicago!
Yesterday I woke up feeling worse than ever so I gave in and went to Convenient Care. They gave me codeine cough syrup, some pills for my cough and the Z-pak of antiobiotics. I am on day two and already I am better. Not well enough that we didn't cancel our trip to Chicago however. I feel bad for Owen as it was a celebration for his birthday but we will reschedule. Today I got up, chatted to Kevin, ate some muffins Ernie made with apple pie jam that Jeff Evans brought. Ernie put a fire in the fire place and we hung out a bit before we sadly saw Kevin on his way into the snow. Crossed fingers that he makes it safely to Columbus tonight.
Thanks Kevin.
Happy New Year to all...I think Kevin started us out just right.
