My Motorboat

If you want a measure of how sick I felt yesterday, after everybody left and we sat chatting with Kevin as he ate some hoppin john, I went to bed.

I know.

I mean....what could be more delightful than sitting in our living room with Christmas trees lit and candles, snow coming down outside, and drinking wine with my husband and Kevin Gordon? Well, at that point I would have cried if I hadn't collapsed into bed so I took my codeine cough medicine and apologetically went to bed. I laid there coughing a bit and Owen came in to check on me. He said he'd been talking like a motorboat to Kevin. I figured he meant motor mouth but I liked the analogy. In fact, he elaborated on it although I don't remember exactly....something like a motorboat with teenagers that had just gotten out of school or something like that. He told me to call him if I needed ANYTHING....even if I just needed my blankets adjusted. God I love my sweet peas.

I love this little ceramic tree. My father's mother gave it to my mother and she loved it as well. It makes me happy, as does my Uncle Mistletoe candle.

This is the song that Kevin started with last night, appropriately enough....
