Don't Let the Door Hit You on the Way Out February!
I feel better today. The sun is out. Is that why? Or maybe just because February is almost over! Yay! Let's recap: February 2 is my parents' anniversary, February 7 is the day my beloved sister Judi died in 2009, February 17 is the day my mother died in 2010, who coincidentally had her funeral on February 25, my sister's birthday. Oh, and February of 2009 is when we found out Ernie's cancer had metastisized into his bones and this February is when we found out that it has again spread further into his spine. Can we all say it together? FUCK YOU FEBRUARY! FUCK YOU CANCER AND FUCK YOU AGAIN FEBRUARY!
Ah. That feels better!
Now, some random notes:
1. The boys just went to school for picture day looking absolutely delightful. Heh, um, not really. I can just see some poor parent looking at the class picture saying, "Who is THAT?" Sigh. My sweet peas.
2. I asked Leo how his book he'd chosen for the Holocaust project at school was. He just stared at me and shrugged his shoulders. I said, "Well, do you LIKE the book?" He gave a tiny shrug of his right shoulder and said, "myeah," followed by another tiny shrug. Good God, it's such a good thing I adore that child.
3. Last night Owen said, "I'm starting to think of him not as an asshole, but as a teacher." Ummm.....I guess that's progress.
4. Pretty good dinner last night, teriyaki beef skewers that Owen was supposed to make but somehow didn't help with at all. Asian rice and salad with my favorite Asian vinaigrette (which wasn't nearly as good when I subbed cidar vinegar for rice wine vinegar...tried adding a little mirin...then more lemon....needs the rice wine vinegar). Forgive the so-so picture...
And now...onward to the weekend! I am so looking forward to this weekend and the house concert. It doesn't matter if it's cold or snowy...as long as Rod Picott and our friends can gather together...and perhaps we'll all sing a chorus of 'Fuck You February!"
And last, but certainly not least, here is a slide show of pictures of my sister Judi that I put together for her Sukhavati (the Buddhist memorial service). I dug it out and put it on facebook yesterday, as it was her birthday. Yesterday it made me cry. Today it is making me happy, so please look at it with that in mind.
Happy Almost March everybody.
