RB Morris Brings the Light

RB Morris.

What a glorious, glorious night of music and poetry, food and warmth.

We, here at the Sandwich Life, are deeply, DEEPLY in love!

Last week was a hard week to slosh through and Ernie and I were both feeling somewhat discombulated. We couldn't wait for the house concert though, because we knew it would bring us light. The weather and ice loomed over the evening but the hardy folks prevailed and how lucky they were.

RB claimed his voice was only 70% or so but that was in his ears, not mine, because I thought he sounded god damned beautiful (sorry Debbie). Such songs. Such words. Such poetry. To have him be such a lovely person to have in our home as well was the perfect cherry on top. Side note: do kids still say "pretty please with a cherry on top" or is that something solely of my generation? Anyway....he was lovely and each time, at the end of the set, when he said "I'll just do one or two more for you" I thought, "what the hell is he talking about? He JUST started!" I could have listened forever.

I'm thrilled we asked Sidney Taiko to read first. I think the world of her and she was really great. Check out the work she does at Storm Cellar as well.

Random notes and thanks:

Owen talking to RB about poetry and seriously asking for his own copy of RB's book of Mockingbird poems: maternal bliss and pride.

We were glad to have Sam Rosenberg, who we are supporting in his run for 103rd district State Reprentative, join us. We hope to have him at our March 1 (Rod Picott) house concert as well, so if you are coming you will have a chance to meet and talk to him. We are very impressed with him and feel that is by FARRR the best candidate. We feel really great about him. He is young, but young in the very best way....he is smart, energetic, enthusiastic, committed to the community and to the ideals and philosophies we believe in, and that Naomi Jakobsson has represented so well. We wholeheartedly support him.

Sue Davis and her SOUPS. Lord but she is brilliant. Love and thanks to her for all she did...and to Kent for everything he did to help make it happen and for damned impressive dishwashing skills. And look how cute she is in this picture of all of us!

THANK you for all the wonderful food and drink that you brought!

Thanks to Lonesome Larry at the WHIP for talking to RB and having him play some songs in the studio earlier in the afternoon.

And as always, thanks to our beloved Richard Hill for the great photos!
