Dear God in Heaven
Oh good god in heaven.
I had a webinar at work this afternoon. It used a different access program than other webinars I've done in the past. I remembered it a few minutes late so I was racing around, trying to find the email and getting it set up. When I finally got on it was totally different than in the past and there was a weird noise echoing behind the speaker so I poked around clicking, trying to find some kind of controls. I couldn't figure it out so just ignored it.
The webinar was an hour long and through it I blew my nose constantly, got cough drops, checked facebook, spit into my kleenex some of the gunk in my throat. Raised my hands in frustration when they didn't cover what I wanted and complained through the whole thing.
Afterward I got an email from someone else at the University that said, "Was that your picture I was seeing during the webinar? I am sorry you are not feeling well."
I looked at the name and thought and thought and thought. Searched my email, searched my house concert email list...couldn't think who he was. I read it again and with a sinking feeling, I wrote, "Oh my God....could you SEE me the whole time?" He replied,
Yes, once the sound and PowerPoint kicked in, you were in the Lync box until the webinar ended. I tried to figure out which of the attendees was broadcasting via their webcam, but I was not that familiar with Lync to make the determination. [I was still able to see the PowerPoint in the meeting presentation box.] I guessed and emailed someone else but did not receive a response. So, I figured that guess was incorrect. It wasn’t until the webinar ended that your name appeared on the Lync box. If I had known, sooner, I would have sent you the e-mail.
I have attended three webinars in the last two days, and I would not have wanted to broadcast from my webcam.
Sorry I did not get to you sooner.
Remember....I was blowing my nose and spitting into my kleenex the whole time....shaking my head in disgust, putting my hands out in a universal 'what the hell'....then blowing and spitting some more.
Good God.
And this is how close I was to my webcam.....
I just called Ernie to tell him he has to take me out for a drink tonight.
