A Good Weekend....We're Getting There

Overall....a pretty good weekend. A wonderful dinner at Golden Harbor on Friday night with friends. Good GOD but their food is wonderful....the salt and pepper soft shell crab will have to go down as my favorite....although everything else was great too...and of course the company. I shall steal Sue's pictures as I didn't take any....

Let's see...what did we have? Pea shoots with mushrooms, salt and pepper soft shell crab, basil chicken, garlic vegetables, cristpy tofu, of COURSE the pork belly buns....oh, and a bunch of other stuff!!! And then a lovely time chatting with our beloved Joy and Patrice until my coughing sent me home....

Yesterday I had to do a short work presentation at the Union and actually managed to get through it without coughing. I clutched a cough drop in my hand the whole time and evidently its presence was enough to keep the cough at bay. I'm hardly ever in the Union and when I am I feel immediately as though it's still 1982 and I want to go cash a check in the spot in the southwest corner or head to the Vending Room to wait in line all night for tickets to some show. Those things may be gone and there may be a food court in the basement but it still feels like the Union.

Today, after the Sunday paper and Ernie's Sunday morning biscuits, I reminded Ernie that there was an antique show in Bloomington. We decided to head over. Owen encouraged us, saying, "it's not that I'm trying to get rid of you, but I like it when you come home happy." So off we went. We bought an 1880's Egyptian goblet. Of course we don't need it but it was a good price and I can put it out to use at the house concerts.

Afterward we headed to downtown Bloomington to find a ghost sign that I had seen there once. We drove in circles in the one way streets until Ernie may have wanted to kill me (actually he was quite patient) and I began to fear it had been painted over. Then I saw it!!! I was so happy.

We wandered some more, found a few more and stopped in a little antique mall.

We stopped a took a picture of a nice old school and my lawyer's office (I like seeing her name in shiny gold letters) and trundled on home.

Oh, and at the antique mall I felt it my duty to liberate a 19th century Gaudy Welsh saucer....it looked so lonely.... And a pan to match my blue and white one that I love....

And although I may have been heard chanting, "Give me MUCINEX or give me DEATH"....overall, it's been a good weekend....thanks to all that made it that way....
