Nothing Better
There truly can't be anything better than the sound of rain falling steadily and knowing you just finished planting your seeds. We didn't get everything in but we did get two kinds of kale, two kinds of chard, lots of nasturtiums and a patch of dill in before the rain started yesterday. Still to be planted are the zinnias and cosmos and a few other things....some cucumbers and some lettuce (which should have been planted ages ago).
I got my window boxes planted too. I wondered if it was too early but then I figured most of the plants are sitting outside at the nurseries anyway. Black petunias, Empress of India nasturtiums, some little tiny petunia-y things that are pink/orange, some viny thing with varigated leaves and some tarragon and rosemary all went in the ones in the front. The window box on the south side got some moss roses, some lantana, some orange petunias and a couple of petunias called ultra-burgendy that are such a delicious color that my camera can't begin to capture it. Oh, and something that looks like yellow tickseed kinda.....
And if it appears that Ernie is doing all the work while I, uh, supervise....well.....I had the hard work of planning and designing..... You gotta go with your strengths, right?
