Many Random Notes from the Summer Sandwich Life

1. My guy David Olney's new album is out today. It is...well, it's David Olney folks. It's freaking brilliant and funny and heartbreaking and haunting. Dramatic and subtle, romantic and mischievous....and damned insidious in the way the songs creep through you.

You know, it's Olney.

I'm so grateful to my friend Susan for staying with the guys so we can dash down to Nashville for the CD release show tomorrow night. The boys of course think they would be perfect fine on their own but they like Susan so they acquiesced. Leo did add the caveat, "as long as she doesn't bother me a lot." 

Lord I love those boys.

2. More adventures in texting with Owen. Any time of the day or night. And he texts exactly as he talks....it can be exhausting but entertaining....

At least it's better than the time I came home from work and he said, "Oh, were you gone?"

3. A sleepy Rascal. He wears himself out playing with his stuffed frog and attacking the other cats. When he goes after Hattie and she's not up to it she scuttles under the blanket chest. It's kind of pathetic really...especially given that she's ten times the size of Rascal and he could certainly get her under there.  He seems to respect that as her turtle shell though. He is a good little guy. I think he's uniting the older cats and they're becoming quite resigned to him....

4. Please help me.  Are these SUPPOSED to taste like dust? They looked so appealing but...weren't....

5. Dinner last night. The kohlrabi slaw was so-so, the corn and sweet cherry tomatoes (from the yard) were AMAZING....the leftover curried oven fried chicken thighs...ummm good for leftover but not what they were the night before. Still a pretty nice dinner....

6. Summer in the yard.
