Today's ST: BR5-49 and Tim Carroll

Have we ever had a July as glorious as this one? O.k., I admit I could have done without the flooded basement but it might be worth it. In garden news it has been a piss poor year for my Swiss chard and my basil looks like hell. I think it must have some kind of fungus/downy mildew. Eh......but the exuberant zinnias, nasturtiums and hydrangeas make up for it.

My pictures of my zinnias and nasturtiums just don't capture their brilliance so I will instead give you another hydrangea.

Ernie took me out for a quick drink at Fries and Peanuts last night and we caught up on our day. I sit in one place on the computer all day at work while Ernie races hither and yon with appointments, shopping, errands....the man rarely stops....except when he curls up on the couch for a break and a fresh Daily Show. Man I love him.

When we got home we sat in the front yard for a bit...I had a new food magazine, he had a crossword. The boys ate early so I could relax and not feel guilty about making dinner late. Eventually we headed inside and got on a bit of a BR5-49 kick. Man they sounded good. The first time we saw them it was mmmm late 93 or 94. They were still pretty new....had a sax player which I don't think they had in the later years. We saw them later at Schuba's I think....after we had moved down here to Champaign. Some record company thing. A long time ago but damn the stuff holds up.

This video's not great but it's from Robert's in 1998 which is the closest I could find to when we first saw them. And actually the crowd and the wall of boots and the view out the window all kind of captures it...

This morning finds me in the need of Tim Carroll though.... and good, good LORD this sounds good right now. First week back after vacation and it seems to be moving a LEETLE slowly....this should help....
