Shopping....and a Bit of House Concert
I spent less than an hour, in fact I believe it was something like 55 minutes, at Kohl's last night with my husband and two sons. Evidently I survived it because here I am typing away on these keys...but let me tell you...it was touch and go.
We needed new dress shirts for a wedding for Ernie and Owen, and some back to school clothes for the guys. Ernie tried on a shirt quickly and said it was fine. Owen went in with two shirts and after sending Ernie in after him about three times he came out and said he didn't want to buy any clothes.
Yes.
Then Leo announced that there was no way he would like anything in this store. I told him I knew his rules, either black, brown or grey, and long sleeves. He said yeah, but he wasn't going to find anything he liked. He just knew it. He also stated that any store that has a hash tag on its instore advertising is just trying too hard. Couldn't argue.
Sigh.
I told Owen he HAD to get a shirt and a pair of pants. He finally agreed to the shirt, and even a couple of others. Then we tried to find a pair of pants.
Sigh.
I found some I liked, not in his size. They were close so I suggested he try them. He said, "no, it's not my size." Ernie helpfully said, "no, it's not his size." I glared at all three of them and headed over to another section. We found a couple of pairs of pants and sent Owen into the dressing room. An hour later I sent Ernie in. He asked if he could see how they looked. Owen said NO.
Ernie came back out with a bemused look on his face. I told him that Leo and I were off to the shoe department and that he was on his own. My leg was going numb from the stupid spinal stenosis and there's no place to sit in Kohl's. But the shoe department has seats!!! I sat for awhile and then attempted to look for shoes for the wedding we're going to to this weekend. I stomped around sadly, bemoaning to Leo the fact that I can't wear Birkenstocks to a wedding. I finally threw my hands up in the air and said I'm going home and going online. I had already told Leo that we'd look online for something for him because I knew we weren't going to get anywhere tonight.
"I hate this store," he said. Me too baby, me too. I hate shopping and evidently my children do too. The apple really doesn't fall far from the tree. As my friend Roger says, "If you breed weasels, you get weasels."
I do love my weasels though.
Owen did eventually get a pair of pants so he's planning to wear his red hightops, his black pants, his white shirt, and his red bow tie. Not sure about the fez.
Leo will wear his black pants/white shirt graduation outfit....I'm not seeing a tie in his future but we'll see. Me? I ordered a cheap pair of somewhat garish sandels off of Zappos. I hope they fit.
And just for nothing, here is Sergio Webb with his Lego self. I don't think I ever posted about the Irene Kelley house concert...it was WONDERFUL!!!
