Post House Concert Driving
As per usual, we were none too productive the day after our house concert. We hung out with Sergio a bit (how delightful to get up in the morning and have Sergio downstairs in your living room, we are lucky) and sent the trio off with lots of hugs and thanks. Ernie and I were a bit antsy and wanted to go for a drive. The boys declined our kind offer, the little jerks, so we headed out on our own.
We found the abandoned motel cottages we'd looking for last weekend (thank you kj and others for directions) but I don't think I was able to really capture them. On the way we drove through Newman and found it delightful! We took pictures, bought a bottle of water and some peanuts at a Casey's and meandered home. Ernie and Owen ran some errands while Leo computered upstairs and I found myself ALONE for an hour or two. It was heavenly. I was happy when they came back though. I browned some chicken in a dutch oven on top of the stove and then put it in the oven. Of course an hour later I found that I had left the stove burner on but not turned the oven on. Sometimes I do wonder about myself and the history of dementia in my family.... Owen made himself ramen and headed up to bed. Ernie and I ate after I managed to turn the oven on and get things cooked.....with leftover mashed potatoes and ratatouille.....a pretty delightful day overall.
In other news poor Rascal is at the vet today to be neutered today.....or tutored, as Sergio put it. Poor little guy didn't even know to be scared of the cat carrier. And last but not least, in thinking about voting tomorrow, I found myself agreeing with two editorials by the News-Gazette. Freaked me the hell out I must say.....
We drove through another town and found trucks lined up waiting for the grain elevator. Many of the fields were full of people working on the last of the harvest.
