Random Notes: Radney Foster and Owen's Depiction of the Family
Owen depicted the family as food in a series of post-its on the refrigerator: he is a banana with a turntable, Ernie is an ear of corn that has been fertilized by the Kinks, Leo is a grumpy brownie with an iMac, and I, yours truly, was depicted as an eggplant drinking a glass of wine.
I love that boy.
He's cutting his hair somewhat. He says he was inspired by the Flaming Groovies...
Shake some action's what I need
To let me bust out at full speed
I love those boys of mine.
On a different note, we are delighted that Radney Foster will be doing a house concert for us. He had to fill an empty date because of a cancelled show between Indy and Chicago and we are the lucky recipients of that! Friday, February 20, 2015. Donations will be $25 this time. I don't know (I NEVER know) how quickly this will fill up but send money via PayPal (thesandwichlife@gmail) if you want to make a reservation.
Some of you might know Radney from his Foster and Lloyd days, or from his hits from his first solo album, Del Rio, Texas, 1959 (Just Call Me Lonesome, Nobody Wins etc), or some of the great work he's done since then. It will be a big wonderful treat for February, particulary as it's not a month I particularly love. THANKS to the house concert gods (and Radney, his wife Cyndi, and my beloved Heather for passing word of this along to me).
And last but not least....made cinnamon rolls this morning. They turned out so-so but they look damn pretty, don't they? It was kinda (you know me and baking) from the Artisan 5 minutes a day bread book but eh. I had been going to make it for breakfast with Kevin Gordon but it seemed easier to throw together a frittata with the leftover rice from the night before. It turned out better than the cinnamon rolls, and regardless of the food, breakfast with Kevin Gordon couldn't have been more delightful.
I need to do some work, go into work for a meeting and then hopefully a relaxed Sunday evening. If only we'd gotten snow. Sigh.
