-12 and a Few Random Pictures

It was 12 below zero when I got up this morning. My new furnace can only do so much in this old, drafty,  uninsulated house so it is damn cold. I am bleary, on top of the cold, bleary beyond belief. I assume I will wake up. I did have yesterday off to catch up after a crazy week. I did NOTHING. I got up, ate breakfast, read, and took a nap....woke up, chatted, read, went to Huaraches Moroleon for lunch....complete with a margarita. We came home, I, uh, did a lot more nothing, hung out with the guys, ate leftovers for dinner, watched some tv and went to bed. Yes, I can proudly say I didn't do a damn thing that was productive and it felt GOOD. Today...back to the grind, so I'm bleary and cold, but grateful for that day of rest. Onward.

One of the many things that have appeared from Owen's cleaning of the basement. How can I get rid of this? Sigh.

Image2015-02-18-125542You know you have a good boss when, upon being called into work sooner than expected one evening, she brings you her lobster dinner from Bacaro to eat after the meeting and then buys herself a hotdog on the way home....

More discoveries from the basement: a very yellowed clipping that my grandmother in Portland, Maine sent me in 1973. I was at the height of my infatuation with Longfellow and sadly the elms in front of his Portland home were decimated by Dutch Elm disease....

It's all o.k. though....because, as he said:

Be still, sad heart, and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.
