Strange

I was startled to hear that Steve Strange had died, although I hadn't thought of him in  a long time. In the apartment I lived in during college (well, I mostly stayed at Ernie's, but I paid rent there for a year) there were two closed up windows in the living room because a storefront on Green Street had been added on. The woodwork was all still there so we used them as frames for posters. I don't recall the one on the left, but the one on the right was of Visage...

Yesterday Ernie was reading the News-Gazette and he pointed to something in the paper, commenting on it. I nodded my head but what really caught my eye was that on the same page there was a story about the death of Steve Strange. I didn't even comment on it to Ernie but it stuck with me. One of those moments where your past life and your current life reference each other and it just plain blows your mind. When I was sitting in that apartment with that poster on the wall I never could have dreamed I'd be living here all these years later, married to Ernie with two kids and that the News-Gazette, of all newspapers, would be mentioning his death.

Strange indeed.

And I gotta say.....despite my lack of efforts in this area today, this period was my favorite for hair and make up.....

See? Here we are around the same time....God I loved hairspray and eye make up.
