A Lost Weekend

A lost weekend....and not the fun kind. Not much to say about the weekend. I spent most of it prone of the couch or in my bed. My cold continued to morph every two days into a new phase...this weekend saw me sleepy, blowing my nose constantly and headachy. A totally lazy weekend but really not all that enjoyable. I slept more than I should have during the day, so nighttime found me constantly waking, blowing my nose, looking out the window at our neighbor's most recent visitor stopping by their completely-reputable-I'm-sure business in the middle of the night. I really wouldn't even care so much about whatever the hell they are doing if they would just keep their damn dog...now DOGS....from barking. Ugh. I missed the model train show, missed lunch with the boys, missed Sasha's opening at Amara, missed a work dinner. I got it together enough to start to fix dinner while Ernie and Owen were out at Sasha's. They came home and Owen announced that he wasn't hungry and was going to bed. I got pissed and said, fine, I just wouldn't cook dinner. Wow, that really showed him, didn't it? I ate popcorn and went to bed. I woke up on Sunday finally feeling a bit better and did some odds and ends around the house before actually going outside to sit in the warm air.  We've had some nice weather but I've either been working or sick so this is the first time I got to enjoy being outside, even if, as I told Erie, I felt like a little old man huddled in a wheelchair in front of the nursing home.

Eh.

Some mmm....notable moments:

Owen found a chair that has reportedly been sitting in the school parking lot for weeks and wheeled it all the way home. He is quite delighted with it. He spent a good part of the weekend cleaning it up and it is now his desk chair. I only wish I could have seen him, with his friend Duncan, wheeling it all the way home.

I told Ernie I wanted him to burn up the last of our old fence. He did so, coming in to check on me on the couch at one point, which led to one less plastic green chair.

Bob seemed to be suffering from a bit of ennui

The crocuses don't seem to like to be confined to where we plant them. I can understand this and am delighted to see them pop up wherever they choose.

Yesterday we worked on figuring out the tables for the train room. It appears that Ernie and Leo will be building a table to fit the odd measurements of the room. Then Leo started talking about what else he needs. I told him he might have to get a job this summer to pay for some of this. He smiled at me and said, "Mom....too young....not legal....things have changed in the last forty years." Since he was smiling so sweetly and happily I didn't shoot him and left the discussion for another time. Lord I love that boy.

O.k. spring....I'm ready.....
