Random Notes from the Sandwich Life
1. Talking to Leo about the rioting in Baltimore. He told me they had no reason to do that and I said there were reasons, but this wasn't the way to go about it. He told me there were good reasons for the protests, but not rioting. Point to Leo although when we have more time there's much more to talk about regarding this issue and our society. I love talking about current events with Leo. Well, I pretty much love talking about anything with Leo. He's a thoughtful, thoughtful, smart guy.
2. The other day Owen looked around our somewhat messy living room and said, "Our house always looks like it's in progress." More wise words....he is exactly right. Oh well....could be worse I guess.
3. Owen's reading teacher called me the other day and told me that he draws too much in class. She said even when she has him put his drawing notebook away, he keeps drawing---he just uses his worksheets. She didn't seem to appreciate his artistic drive and/or see the humor. Oh well again.
4. We tried making a Papa Del's type pizza at home last night. We used this recipe we found online and it turned out pretty good for a first effort. I think the dough came out a little too dry and too much of it for the pan we used. I used a cast iron skillet that was the right size but perhaps it wasn't deep enough. We will need to perfect it---although it's not something you want to make too often---it was fun...
5. By the by....Phil Lee coming up at the end of May!
We can't wait...although I must go along with Hippie Jack's wise words when he introduces him, "Do not make eye contact with this man!" Really though? Phil Lee's a sweet pea...it will be so good to see him again.... Oh, and if you skip ahead to 14:00 you can see my beloved Peter Cooper as well.....
