Friday, Friday, Friday
Friday evenings are my very favorite times. Last night we curled up and watched a few episodes of Bloodline on Netflix, sat in the yard with the guys and watched the storm clouds and the lightning roll in until we were forced inside, and then made a late dinner of a pork curry with broccoli with curry leaves. We tumbled into bed completely relaxed and happy.
I bought fresh curry leaves at World Harvest the other day because, well, because I could. We had stopped to pick up pita bread but I can't go in there and only buy one thing of course. I had looked at recipes but was feeling lazy so just threw something together. We had a couple of pork steaks so we put them in the freezer for about an hour so they'd firm up for slicing thinly. Then I pureed a good size knob of ginger with several garlic cloves and several glugs of soy sauce and tossed it with the slivers of pork. Later on I semi-stir-fried it, tossing in the curry leaves toward the end to let them soften a bit. I must say it was delicious....wonderful mild but full flavor from the leaves. After the meat was done I cooked a bunch of broccoli and Ernie made rice and it was delicious and really easy.
Rascal sat and supervised and Ernie and I watched various Weavers videos while we cooked.
Maybe I should get Pete Seeger for a house concert, eh?
Thanks to Richard for pointing out this video on the Weavers from Folk Alliance a few years back...
