I Am Not a 13 Year Old Boy and Other Random Notes
1. Living with a 13 year old is very interesting, a 13 year old Owen in particular. We were watching a cooking show, they were making chicken thighs. The chef said, "then smear that filling on your thighs." Endless cackles of laughter. When you try to eat nuts, or any other possible thing that could have some kind of sexual reference---and believe me there are a LOT of them, again, screams of laughter. The good thing about it is that he has an incredibly wonderful laugh. Sometimes though....like when he tried to show me the video of the robot masturbating. "OWENNNNN.....please remember that I am NOT a 13 year old boy." More cackles of laughter.... Then again, the other day he made me a devil ice cream cone... It is an interesting ride, if nothing else.
2. Every so often I hope over to Leo's website on his Trainz work. Sometimes I read his blog updates and am just blown away that this is my sweet pea. I read this post and all I could do the rest of the day was walk around muttering, "My baby has beta testers, my baby has beta testers." I am just blown away by his strong sense of self and ridiculously proud of his good heart and wise soul. And even though his stubbornness takes a few years off my life now and then, I do respect it....
3. I took the other day off because I would lose some vacation days if I don't and I'm not doing that, nuh uh. We had a lazy morning, then wandered around town a bit, buying a ton of pepper plants to fill in where some zinnia seeds failed to germinate, finding a bookstore that had 4 books for a dollar, stopping in at Fries and Peanuts, hanging out in the yard, explaining to Owen that yes, it really IS a big deal when you hang up on a parent, cooking dinner, watching a little tv and just enjoying being lazy with the lingering post-house concert glow. A nice day.
4. Yesterday was the last day of school for the guys...now summer really begins....
5. Today is my sweet pea's birthday. Happy birthday to the one I love, as Kevin Gordon puts it so well... This picture just kills me....it's the little hunch he's doing with his right shoulder. My sweet pea.
