My Old Friend Perspective Comes Calling

Man, I just fucked everything up last night.

I finished up work last night with a headache and was feeling very stressed about a number of things. Ernie picked me up and by the time we hit Neil Street we were having an argument. Given my mood and anxiety level it was mostly my fault although I did have a valid point here and there. Sigh. We got home, got calmed down and then I got pissed about something else. The evening was a bit of a dud.

I went outside to sit and watch the storm clouds only to be sent scurrying back in by a brilliant white bolt of lightning above us.

We tried to make sure Owen was organized for school. I'm just not ready.

Late in the evening I got news about a friend's father who is ill, in ICU and not doing well. It put everything into perspective immediately. I remembered that it's not about having laundry done or having the right school supplies. It's about the four of us.

After all my nagging Owen actually did go to bed early and he was asleep when I went up. Leo gave me a sweet smile. Ernie promptly fell asleep and I tried to read before giving up and listening to some Amanda Shires and eventually dozing off. The songs were just right.

This morning Owen actually shivered with glee when we asked him where to drop him off and he realized it was with the other 8th graders.

Here he is putting up with my picture taking. Leo starts tomorrow.
