Sixteen and Fall
Last night one child told me that some parents don't go to parent-teacher conferences because they trust their children. Evidently that was the theory that caused him to 'misplace' the conference sign up sheet. Words were exchanged, however we moved on to a triumphant pancake night....we haven't had one in a while. My spicy chicken was so-so but Leo's pancakes were wonderful. For whatever reason I was wiped out. I considered curling up and watching tv but our cable/internet was out, so I went up to bed and only read a few pages before I gave in and turned the light out.
I was woken up many times in the night by the repair trucks with flashing lights in our alley, but the air was cool so I snuggled back in and went back to sleep easily enough each time. I woke up towards morning and had to get a quilt to wrap up in. Fall has arrived. And with it, I have a sixteen year old. Leo turns 16 today. I believe it was about 5:25 pm. I'd been in labor since dawn the day before. In hindsight it is, of course, no surprise that Leo was stubborn even in utero. The doctor had to stitch me up quickly because she was going to see Elton John at the Assembly Hall that night. Funny, the things one remembers.
My sweet pea. Birthday pictures to follow.
For now, just a couple of pictures.....
Malcolm Holcombe's gift of hot peppers...
A lovely picture of Bill Jackson by Tacy Judd...
