Thanksgiving Past: 2014
The Good:
My sweet peas, all three of them
My family of friends
The little fingerling sweet potatoes that I thought I burnt
The Brussels sprouts...not perfect but pretty damned good
The mashed potatoes
The gravy
The trifle
And in things I was not responsible for: Teri's wonderful plates of nibbles and Kent's fantastic Dutch apple pie
The Eh:
I'm going back to traditional roasting temperatures for the turkey. One year I tried slow roasting it...didn't like it. This year I tried high roasting it.....and eh....not great. Next year do NOT let me think about trying something new!
Cranberry sauce.....it was perfectly fine but should have stuck with my regular recipe...I tried adding star anise but it didn't really come through.
The stuffing. The crock pot trick might work well enough if I tended to have dinner ready when I said I would but since I don't it ended up a bit burnt. I made it too spicy too.
I took hardly any pictures....too busy enjoying myself. Overall it was a delightful day....beloved friends, good, my sweet peas and just enough snow to make me happy! And last but not least.....Debbie....sorry it took you eight tries to get hold of me.....
