Epiphany Is Over
I had a rotten day yesterday and today I woke up sick. Coincidence? Hmm. Frankly, I'm not sure which day I'd choose if I had to do one over. Maybe today. Just yesterday morning I'd been thoughtlessly blathering on to Nancy how proud I was that I hadn't gotten sick of late. She TOLD me to stop saying that out loud...but did I listen? No.
An interaction with somebody brought back some not-as-deeply-buried-as-I'd-like anxiety and misery. I wanted to shake myself like a wet dog to rid myself of it, but I felt draped in it, like a wet, wool coat. You know that dismal smell? I felt like that. And feeling like that opens up the door to other memories of sadness that have no place in my life right now.
I slept for a chunk of the day, waking up only to realize that I was hot and sweaty and hadn't moved an inch. I got up and got a few things done and then curled back up on myself. Tomorrow I will drag myself into work regardless of how I feel as I have some things that must get done.
It's quiet here tonight. Owen and Ernie are in Chicago for the weekend (Owen's birthday present) so it's just my sweet Leo and me.
One Christmas tree is down and the ornaments and pine needles are spread across tables and chairs. The downside to having two trees and tons of ornaments is that it takes a HELL of a long time to put them all away. I guess that's my project for the weekend. Epiphany is over, in more ways than one.
