Onward
I wrote a pissy post yesterday morning but then I unpublished it. I rarely do that, but somehow, in the wake of reading about Bowie's death, and thinking about how lucky I am, it seemed foolishly whiny.
It does seem unbelievable that David Bowie was just as human and mortal as the rest of us.
Fucking cancer.
My facebook feed has been thick with thoughts, comments and remembrances of Bowie and his music. The odd post that isn't about him stands out awkwardly. It makes sense though, that so many people that I feel most connected to couldn't help but respond to not just the artistry, but the otherness, the feeling of being an outsider, the yearning, that Bowie explored and championed.
I'm recovering slowly from whatever flu kind of thing hit me. I went back to work yesterday but realized it was too soon....I was miserable and I think I was making my colleagues miserable so I came home and curled up on the couch. Utterly wretched day. When I'm sick I have the capacity to just lay and watch tv so for hours I watched HGTV (I swear to God I dreamed of open concept floor plans last night. Why does everybody want to tear out wall? I like walls).
My beloved Steve Scariano has challenged me to the Facebook Music Challenge, in which I post music for ten days. It's the perfect thing for me to think about today as I try to recover.
