Touch Your Shelf

The biggest news of the weekend: Owen completed his shelf project! Woo-HOOOO! He has been working on this project, under the direction of our beloved neighbor Jeff, for some time now. After Owen got his last piece of stereo equipment off of eBay (I should know but I forget...) he was struggling on how to set things up in his tiny bedroom. He had cobbled together two end tables but it wasn't really working. So he measured and thought, consulted with Jeff, measured and thought some more, and they began work. I knew he was getting close but didn't realize that Saturday was the day!

I heard noises on the porch and next thing I know....the shelf had arrived with Jeff and Owen. Gail was along for photodocumentation. It is GORGEOUS! I am so proud of him. Jeff assured me that Owen had done a good 90% of the work and I could tell Owen just felt good. It made me supremely happy. I was a bit shocked at how big it was but Owen assured me he had measured carefully and fit it did.

Leo helped him move all his equipment and records into it and Rascal watched in approval. I swear to God....I've got the best guys, and wonderful, loving neighbors to boot. We are indeed lucky.

Yesterday Owen went to dinner with Sue and Kent and  Sue asked him (she claims innocent intentions), "So have you just been in your room touching your shelf all day?" The evening went down hill from there.

Neighbors? Wonderful!

Friends? Uh, questionable.....questionable indeed.
