Debates and Chicken Wings
I have never been so nervous to watch a presidential debate before in my life. I made the boys come down and watch for a bit. Owen lasted for half an hour, Leo stayed for almost an hour and then took off, after shaking his head and saying, "He's not answering the questions." I couldn't blame them, I sort of wanted to leave too. In the end I doubt anybody's mind was changed and I get a knot in my stomach when I think about the election. True fear. Of course I also had a dream last night about aliens and drones landing in our yard and the Illini marching band, etc., so what the hell do I know anyway....
We ate chicken wings while we watched. I don't know why, it just seemed appropriate to have appetizers. And I must say they were best damned chicken wings I have ever made. I made it up and just tossed some stuff together but Ernie liked it so much that between bites he kept saying, "Write this down so you don't forget it. Ok?"
So, given that I have no words of wisdom about the debate, I give you the best chicken wings I have ever made, as written on my phone last night.
chicken wings 10 wings tossed with a few tbsp of lime juice, perhaps a quarter cup chili garlic sauce, a dollop of olive oil, salt and pepper. Roast at 450 convection roast for 25 minutes.
I just laid them on the pan, roasted them for 20 minutes, looked at them, decided not to turn them, left them in for five more minutes and took them out. I almost want to make them again tonight.
