Old Friends, New Friends

I had a ridiculously good day yesterday. At work I got to meet the 15 day old baby of some friends...and good GOD he was gorgeous. I didn't hold him because I've been sick but it just about KILLED me not to hold him and sniff his sweet baby smell. Sweet, lucky baby has incredible parents and it made my heart happy to see him. Then I tried to scramble through work because I was behind before I got sick so...you know. After work though, Ernie and I went to meet up with old/new friends. For those of you our age...you find that people you used to know casually...on the edges of your circle say...well, as time goes by and various folks disappear from the circle....suddenly you are in the same tight little circle. A couple of folks from the scene here so many years ago were in town for a conference so last night we met up, at Fries and Peanuts of course, with Kim Lenz and Matthew Poelker (and Matt's co worker, who was lovely but whose name I can't remember...sorry! UPDATE Ernie says he thinks it was Joe!).

Oh good God.

We had such a good time I could have cried with happiness. We talked and laughed, reminisced about bands and record stores and friends and places we used to go. When in the course of storytelling the our beloved Lighthouse Tavern in Chicago came up....and Kim actually knew the Richard Marx and Ted McClelland story and had been to the Lighthouse....well, I screeched so loud Ernie looked alarmed.

Kim and Matt...thank you a million times over for the night and the memories. PLEASE come back to C-U!

Oh, and thanks to Jessica, our eternal A-teamer at Fries and Peanuts, for taking the picture!
