Ernie FTW

We did a bit of shopping for Thanksgiving this morning. We're having a Black Dog smoked turkey (you just pick it up at the Champaign location between 10 and 12...how great is that?) but that would leave us with no leftovers so we're going to cook another turkey as well. The one at the house  concert turned out so well that I think we'll go  with the 500 degree temperature again. Between the expense of the house concert and the Black Dog turkey I couldn't bring myself to go with a heritage bird....so grocery store frozen turkey it is. I was trying to find something around 16 lbs but everything was smaller or lots larger. I ended up getting an 18 lber.

As I was putting the turkey in the shopping cart I said, "Of course I know it's injected with all sorts of crap but...." Ernie smirked, shrugged his shoulders and said, "Well so am I!" I laughed so loudly that a few folks stared.

God I love that man.
