Dinner in Cedar Rapids
I kinda thought we might just hibernate in our hotel room, as it was lovely, but I got the itch to go out. Even though we had pizza the night before, I wanted to hit Leonardo's because I'd seen pictures of the incredible red tufted booths. It was rainy and cool but we trundled over and got in line. My photos are lousy, and do forgive so many of us.
Afterwards we went for a late drink at Popoli, an Italian restaurant in an old Louis Sullivan bank. I'm not a cocktail kind of girl but it seemed like the thing to do. I had, of course, the Louis Sullivan, made of Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Benedictine, and Peychaud's Bitters. It, and the building, were delightful. Actually, the building was more than delightful. It was stunning. Again, my pictures are lousy...but take my word for it...gorgeous place....
The tumbler actually reminded me of one of my 19th century cut Pittsburgh tumblers...would have been even better in that, but it was lovely just the same. After that we tumbled back to our hotel, where in my post cocktail happiness I declared that our curtains looked just like Aaron Lee Tasjan---and then I was even happier.
A lovely evening.
Thank you Cedar Rapids.
